Crime Writers of Canada

I've joined the CWC as an associate member.  Since I seem to be mainly interested in writing fiction based on true crimes, I thought this would be an appropriate group to join.  They have a mentorship program which I think I will apply to when it opens again in the spring.

Might attended the Bloody Words Conference next year too.  It's supposed to be back in Toronto for 2012. Should be interesting.

I heard back from Canada'a History magazine.  They don't need any new feature articles now.  At least my rejection was not based on my article. :)

Submission

Well, I finally did it. I submitted a query to Canada's History Magazine for an article I wrote about Sir William Mulock.  My first submission to a proper publication. To date I have only had articles published in the newsletter of the branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society that I belong to.

Fingers crossed.

What to do?

So many things to do.  Still have to make a phone call to see if I can get a bit of info so I can have a reasonably accurate conversation in the chapter I'm working on for Murder in Woodlands.

Would like to do a bit of work on Britany Lake.  I've got tons of re-writes in my head, but haven't gotten around to doing anything about it.

Started a short ghost-story, and stopped after one chapter.

Have to complete an assignment for my Winghill course.  Started it ages ago and need to finish and polish it.

Also have to prepare a couple of short articles for the genealogy newsletter.  I think I have another month fo that.  Those will be easy as they are just info article on new stuff for sale.  Should be writing an actual article as well.

I was working on my Queensville Cemetery transcript yesterday and today, so at least something has been done.

I think I need to retire so I have time.

Where does the time go?

I seem to have fallen into a time-devouring hole.  I haven't worked on any of my books for awhile now.  I've revamped this blog and am starting over again.  I need to make a phone call for some information to complete the chapter I've been ignoring on Murder in Woodlands.  Had to do a bit of rearranging as I realized the chapter comes before the one I wrote it after.  Wasn't paying attention to the timeline, but I've fixed that.

Have to re-do the outline for Britany Lake as I have made more changes to the flow.  I've got a few days booked off work this month and next, so I plan to work on one or the other on those days.  I also have to work on my cemetery transcripts as well, but that depends on the weather as I have to go into the cemeteries to get the information I need.

Will try to update this blog a little more often than I have in the past.
